Off to Luxembourg

Like all good things, weekends in Paris come to an end. This one ended at a cafe in the Gare de l’Est, where I pulled out my laptop and caught up on work emails while waiting for my train to Luxembourg.

We pulled in to Luxembourg around 4pm, and after dropping my bags at the hotel, I went to my friend and colleague Francesco’s house for dinner. It was s perfect late summer evening with kids playing in the yard and adults sitting on the terrace talking and eating. And of course this being an Italian home, the food was incredible. Fresh pasta with herbs and clams, bread with salami and Parmesan, a pesto and tomato tarte.

When the sun set the kids were packed off to bed for school tomorrow, and the adults packed off for work.

It’s nice to see colleagues in their homes. You see them in context of their regular lives and realise they are so much mire than just their jobs. And you think (hope?) the same must be true of you, too.
