I think I’m into floral and bugs and yellow this year

I’ve always been drawn to saturated primary colors when decorating. When I did my house in Seattle, blue and red were the dominant colors, with only little pops of yellow. I favored clean, modern lines in my furniture and geometric, tribal patterns in my textiles. It was a fairly masculine look.

As I start pulling together my new London flat, though, I find myself taking a rather different path. I’m really drawn to bold florals with bugs and way more yellow than I’ve ever used before. It’s exciting.

The woman who designed this gorgeous velvet is an illustrator by trade, just making her first foray into textiles. I bought a throw pillow covered in it for my sofa.

A trinket tray with a golden bee to set boundaries around the chaos of keys and coins and credit cards.

I just love Anglepoise lamps and was missing the one I had on my desk in Seattle. When I saw this updated yellow version designed by Margaret Howell, I knew I had to have one.

One of the plates in the Yuan dining set. Not yellow (not everything can be yellow) but still floral with a bug!
