Solstice!

Shortest day of the year. Is it mystical? Ummm… maybe to some. For me, no. Most years I find the darkness fascinating and almost wish it would continue to Nordic levels. But this year it’s just been dark and grey and hard to get up in the morning. I’m really happy to be on the upswing back to summer.

But what was really fun today was the rain. So much rain!!

By 2pm it was pouring buckets—and when a meeting was unexpectedly canceled I seized the chance to pull on my raincoat and go out to play. I wanted to see the rain garden cascades . . .

. . . and discovered that 34th Street had turned into a river.

I definitely tried to cross that

By the time I got back I was soaked and had to hang my coat and clothes over a tray to catch the runoff.

Then back to work until it turned into a brief and almost glorious snow storm! (and by “snow” I mean slush, but that’s how we roll in Seattle).
