Stolen moments in the garden

I ought to have spent the day at my desk working through my mile-long list of thing to do. But knowing that I had a cartload of new plants waiting upstairs was more than morale could bear. So I ditched the computer for a couple of hours and got one section of planters done on the roof.

It’s hard to see just now, but this should soon be a colourful, flowery corner full of yellows and pinks and purples. I’m particularly delighted with my trellis obelisks for clematis and Black-eyed Susan vine.

My grocery run this morning also led to a discovery that has enabled me to scale up my battle with the squirrels over my bird seed. The feeder is now protected by a squirrel baffle—which so far seems to be keeping the rodents at bay. The jury’s currently out on whether it’s also keeping the birds away since I didn’t see a single one use it today…
