Adios, Madrid — hello, London

Today was a travel day, but full of a somewhat unusual luxury:  time.  My flight wasn’t until mid-afternoon, but Madrid on Sunday is sleepy and I had work I needed to catch up on anyway.  So I slept a little later than normal, went for another long morning run, and then headed to the airport (which is lovely) with hours to spend reading–fortunately I had thought ahead and printed everything I wanted to catch up on.

Madrid’s airport terminal. I love the undulating roof and the subtle shift in color on the supporting beams.

I landed early evening, though by the time I got through passport control and baggage claim I could feel it getting later. My hopes of getting more done tonight may need to shift to cover just the basics of laundry, groceries, and some basic planning for the week ahead.
