Birthday fireworks for the Grand Duke

By complete accident I completed my business trip to Luxembourg on the eve of Luxembourg’s national holiday, which is theoretically a celebration of the Grand Duke’s birthday (despite the fact that his birthday is technically in February).

To kick off the holiday, the city turned out in droves for fireworks and a massive all-night street party.  I pushed my way through the crowds to find a good fireworks-viewing spot near the Pond-Adolphe where they were launched.  It was a fun thing to do, even if it meant that I only got 4 hours of sleep before heading to the airport in the morning…
