I’m on the train to Scotland! The farther north we go, the wetter and greyer it becomes. Green hills dotted with sheep and sat upon by thick low clouds. It’s a refreshing change from sweltering London.
This morning started early. I bid fond farewell to Amanda, whose month-long stay has ended; she’s en route to Denver now.
I then turned to packing for my own adventure: Thirteen of us from work are going to hike the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. We’ll kick off early tomorrow morning with Ben Nevis in Scotland, and then roll straight through the other two without stopping for sleep until we’re done on Sunday afternoon.
It’s entirely possible I’m over prepared: I packed like I would for a backpacking weekend in the Northern Cascades, but I have a sneaking suspicion it’s going to be much less rugged than that… (after all the English refer to this activity as “walking”).
But it should be fun!
And as an added bonus, if I can figure out the logistics I may break off from the group after the first mountain and meet up with Amy in Glasgow. I’d miss the other two mountains but it would be fun to see her and explore Glasgow. Stay tuned.
Sounds like a great adventure! Hope you stay dry.
