Christmas flowers

At Thanksgiving I told Lady I wasn’t getting a Christmas tree.  [gasp; maternal gears start churning]  Then I told her my plan to get Christmasy flowers instead.  [whew]

So that’s what I did today.  Got up before dawn (which, let’s be honest, means about 8:00am in London in December), caught the bus to the Columbia Road Flower Market, and proceeded to buy all the flowers:  dark-green holly, blue thistles, red berries, white chrysanthemums, oriental lilies, half-a-tree of eucalyptus, something with tiny blue berries, something else with bunches of tiny red flowers.

Seriously, I may have the same weakness for fresh-cut flowers as I have for rugs.  I got so many that basically I got home had to go right back and more than triple my vase collection.  But oh, what fun!  And now I’ll be eating breakfast amidst a forest of eucalyptus for the next two weeks.
